Wilton Water Works Minutes

May 27, 2009

COMMISSIONERS:     Chairperson Jim Tuttle; Charles McGettigan and Stanley Schultz.

Jim Tuttle called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m.

Minutes – April 29, 2009

MOTION: (McGettigan/Schultz) to approve 4/29/09 minutes as written. All were in favor.

OLD BUSINESS

1.  Interior Tank Painting – The inspection report showed relatively less rust in the tank than was expected. Those areas have been welded or grouted in and the primer layer has been completed as     well as the sandblasting. If the weather cooperates, it will take about two weeks to put on three coats of paint and another week for it to cure before water can be put back in the tank.

2.  Backflow Devices – Still to be installed are devices for L.A. Limo., the Wilton House of Pizza, the   apartment building next door to it and the Wilton Falls Building. In addition, devices at the Town   Hall, Souhegan Wood Products and Edgewater Estates failed the December inspection and have     yet to be repaired, and C & S Pizza’s device was not inspected. The secretary will try to come up      with two letters for customers with backflow prevention devices.

3.  Location of all 600 Water Meters – Mr. McGettigan and his brother Jim agreed to do this job, but     they haven’t gotten it done. The locations need to be entered into the meter reader software so that    when it is time to read the meters, all of them can be easily found.  (On agenda since March 2009).

4.  System Operation Proposals – Carl Somero, who currently works for Milford Water and Sewer,   has been approached to work part-time for the Wilton Water Works, operating the pump station.      Others will need to be hired to read the meters semi-annually, test the backflow prevention devices   and do the shut offs, reconnections and meter readings that need to be done when people move out     and in or fail to pay their water bill. McGettigan will set up a meeting with A & D Instruments    about reconfiguring the phone and alarm systems at the pump house. Tuttle said that an inventory   at the town barn needs to be    done to find out what supplies are on hand. He said that the charts at the pump house also have to be checked out.

5.  Holt Road Chlorinator Project – Carl and the highway dept. will knock down the bldg. What to   do with the 12” pipe has not been decided.

6.  Test wells next to Route 31 – Emory and Garrett recommend capping and filling with clay the    dozen or so test wells that are either unproductive or damaged. The commissioners will have the    job done in June or July.

MOTION:  (McGettigan/Schultz) To adjourn the meeting. All were in favor.  The meeting

                   adjourned at 10:05 p.m.
