Discussion followed.  Motion by Jim, 2nd by Stanley to act on the reserve accounts as noticed.  All in favor.  Motion to close hearing and start regular meeting by Stanley, 2nd by Jim, all in favor.

1.      ASBESTOS REMOVAL AT CHLORINATOR BUILDING:  Charlie arranged for Dec-Tam to remove the material from the building on August 25.  The job was completed in one day and all the material was removed from the site to our satisfaction.

2.      INTERIOR TANK PAINTING:  Merrithew Inc. has reviewed the five bids and recommended the low bid of Limmerick Steeplejacks be accepted at $87,300.00.  This price allows that the work would be done in May 2009.  Charlie made a motion to accept the bid, 2nd by Stanley.  All were in favor.  Jim will contact Merrithew to execute the contract and secure the bid and bonding for the job.

3.      INTERVALE ROAD WATER MAIN JOB:  8” main has been installed and tested for bacteria.  Services are transferred to the new pipe for all customers.  1” plastic was used from the main to the curb boxes for most of the work instead of copper due to the material cost.  This practice will continue if we don’t have any unexpected problems with the plastic lines.

4.      WATER RATE STUDY:  Charlie talked to Jay at Rural Water about meeting after Labor Day due to his busy schedule.  An afternoon meeting will be scheduled then.

5.      CASWELL WATER SERVICE ON BARRY COURT:  A new service was installed on Monday August 25 by owner.  Highway Department tapped the main line and installed saddle and corporation for 2” service.  The owner was responsible for ditch work in the road under the Road Agent’s supervision.

6.      BACK FLOW DEVICES:   Bragdon Plumbing will do the work for us.  The locations will be surveyed to determine scope of work needed to make the installations (Richard Roy Dental Office, HBTSOTR Convenience Store, Wilton House of Pizza, Casa Capella Hair Salon).

7.      2006 WATER BILL:  Charlie researched the bill in question by customer and found that all bills had been paid, but late.  Customer was told that bills are accurate and meter is working properly according to our records.

8.      SEPTEMBER 2008 WATER BILLS:  Water Meters will be read next month with 30 day billing period, 10 day 2nd notice, and 10 day shut-off notice.

9.      WATER TANK SITE MOWING:  Contractor damaged conduit on pole for telemetry lines.  Carl Boutwell repaired the damage and we deducted the repairs ($150.00) from the mowing bill.  Ryman’s was the contractor for the work at $600.00.

Meeting adjourned at 9:30.  Motion by Charlie, 2nd by Stanley, all in favor.

Respectfully submitted,

James A. Tuttle, Chairman
