August 29, 2007
COMMISSIONERS: Chairperson Jim Tuttle and Tom Herlihy.
Jim
Tuttle called the meeting to order at 8:10 p.m. Herbert Stearns and Tom Guinn
were in the audience.
Minutes July 25, 2007
MOTION: Tuttle/Herlihy
to approve 7/25/07 minutes as written. All in favor.
NEW BUSINESS:
Waterline Repair: Herbert Stearns presented a letter in which he explained that the right-of-way, on
his Proctor Road property, that he granted to the commissioners in 1984, where
a water line is installed, has taken a beating this spring from all the rain
and in the past from the sand pit owned by Mr. Quinn. He said that the
right-of-way needs to be reconstructed all the way to the rivers edge. After
discussion, Tom Quinn said that he would repair the right-of-way with sand,
stone and loam on
top.
Quinn Gravel Operation on 31S: Tom Quinn wants to set up
a small crusher on the Davidson lot
(173). He said it would be electric with no hydraulic and no washing involved.
He believed the location of the crusher would be about 100 yards from the
nearest well. Mr. Quinn agreed to put together a packet of information for Dan
Tinkham with Emory & Garrett, the engineering firm that has overseen this
project from the beginning.
OLD BUSINESS
Don King, 181 Abbot Hill Road.
Bruce Lewis looked at the site and estimated a pump size that would serve 12
homes and estimated the cost of 2 pipe to serve them at a total cost of about
$100,000. Since the actual request was for a system that could serve 3 5
homes, Tuttle and Herlihy estimated that a smaller system might be able to be
installed for $65,000. Tuttle will
contact Mr. King.
Pennichuck (PWW):
Herlihy contacted Bernie at Pennichuck:
they will include invoices with bills from now on; they will conduct the lead
and copper testing; Bernie cleared up the question about the monthly contract
fee increase. McGettigan will ask Bruce
Lewis about the possibility of adding on stronger lightening strike protection
to the electronic system, and the potential costs involved. Waiting for report from June.
Reduced Salt Use Meeting Date: Herlihy contacted DOT
Division 4 Chief Engineer, Doug Graham who said it was up to the selectmen to
set the date. Herlihy then spoke with Selectman Dan Donovan who said he would
be sure that the meeting would be set up.
Pump Station Roof: Tuttle
received two bids: Henry Gibbons to provide 30 yr. shingles, 15# paper, ice
shield 3 from edge, metal drip edges on all sides, trim line shingles, ridge
vent & roof cap for a price of $2,400. A similar bid was received from Al
Preston, except it provided for 25 yr. shingles and did not specify the weight
of the paper. The price was $1,200. Tuttle
will contact Mr. Preston and ask him to adjust his bid to provide for 15# paper
& 30 yr. shingles. If the bid is still the lower, he will be hired.
Skirting for Storage Trailer: Al
Preston will prepare a bid for removing the axel, building 2 vinyl skirting as
well as building stairs and deck. A bid from Henry Gibbons in the amount of
$1,580 was received in July for the skirting job only.
Paving Parking Area at Everett
Well Site: Decided not to pave the
parking are this year but will ask Steve with the Highway Dept. to pave around
the gate boxes.
Intervale Road Extension: McGettigan will get prices
for 8 pipes & fittings for this job. Waiting for report from June.
Old Chlorinator Bldg:
The commissioners looked at the bldg., located on Holt Rd., & discussed
removing it. McGettigan is supposed to
find out if the Recycling Center would take the particle board.
Interior Tank
Painting/Concrete Tank: McGettigan did not contact
Dufresne & Henry regarding concrete tank. Tuttle will contact Underwater Solutions for another inspection &
clerk of the works recommendation.
