TOWN OF WILTON
SELECTMEN’S MINUTES

Date:  February 22, 2009
Time:  6:30 P.M.
Place:  Town Office
Present: Selectmen Daniel Donovan, III, William Condra and Richard Rockwood and Recording Secretary Pamela Atwood

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 P.M.

The Selectmen reviewed the Deficiencies Report for the Recycling Center.

Sara Spittel, a Library Trustee, attended the meeting to tell the Selectmen about a grant offered by the NH Division of Historical Resources.  This grant uses money collected from the sale of Moose plates to help preserve publicly owned historic resources. The money must be used in 2 years but otherwise there are no strings attached. The Library is applying for this grant.  The money would be used to restore more of the windows on the first floor of the Library.   Sara asked if the Selectmen would write a letter of support for the Library to include with their grant paperwork as a show of community support.  Selectman Rockwood suggested that Sara create a draft of the letter and deliver it to the Selectmen.  Sara also suggested that the Library Trustees would like to have a letter at the Town Meeting for residents to sign to support the grant request.  Selectman Rockwood instructed Sara to check with Moderator Bill Keefe about this.

A lien release to be signed by the Selectmen will be presented next week when a date change is made on the paperwork.

The Selectmen reviewed the bills, payroll, correspondence and meeting minutes.

They approved one Veteran’s exemption and one Welfare lien.

The next discussion involved the Operating Plan and notice of deficiencies at the Recycling Center.  It was agreed that the Center definitely needs new signage. Selectman Rockwood suggested that Steve Elliott come to the next meeting to discuss the needs at the Recycling Center.  A copy of the Operating Plan will be kept at the Town Office.

Selectman Rockwood suggested composing a letter to DES noting some of the items that the town is working on.

Chairman Donovan met with Maurice at the Recycling Center over the weekend to discuss some items that need to be cleaned up.

Charlie McGettigan attended the meeting.  He discussed a couple items including the fence behind the Town Hall.  A fence similar to the one at the Fire Station was suggested by Selectman Rockwood and it was also suggested not to have snow dumped over the fence.

Mr. McGettigan also asked about bridge repairs.  Chairman Donovan told Charlie that there are no immediate plans to fix the dam at King Brook Road, and he concurred with Charlie that the bridge at Old County Farm Road is a priority.  Chairman Donovan noted that all these bridges are on a schedule for repair.

The next item discussed was a letter submitted by Ambulance Chief Gary Zirpolo.  The letter discussed billing rates and procedures. The Selectmen agreed to Gary’s suggestions as presented except for the suggestion to have First Financial Resources send people to collections; the collections are to be handled by Wilton Ambulance.

Selectman Condra made a motion to adjourn the meeting seconded by Chairman Donovan.  A vote was taken with all in favor. The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 P.M.

Respectfully submitted;

Pamela Atwood,
Recording Secretary
