1) The Board discussed the issue of the barking dogs and Town Attorney Little’s response to their request to go ahead with the Petition to abate a nuisance. Mr. Rockwood said that he would like Attorney Little to put his response in writing.
2) The Board reviewed a letter from the Wilton Main Street Association
asking for permission from the Board to close Main Street on June 7th,
They, along with several Wilton nonprofit organizations are having a “Celebrate
Wilton” festival day that will feature a craft fair, breakfast and
barbeque along Main Street and Lot 48.
MOTION: Selectman Condra made a motion to grant
the request made by WMSA to close Main Street from 7:00 am until 5:00 PM
on June 7, 2008. It
is with the understanding that there will be a fire lane along the
Town Hall side of the street. Selectman Rockwood seconded the motion,
which passed unanimously.
3) The Board reviewed a written complaint submitted by Alice Vargish concerning the house on Pleasant Street that was demolished last year. After a discussion, the Board agreed that they will give the owner a certain amount of time to clear the debris and if it is not cleaned up, the town will have it cleared and lien the property for the cost of the clearing. A letter will be sent to Ms. Vargish to inform her of the town’s plan.
4) Sam Proctor attended the meeting to discuss the possibility of building driveways off a Class VI Road. A client of his is planning to sell two lots that he intends to do a lot line adjustment. Lot A-058-6 will consist of 27 and Lot C-032 will be 39 acres. Per the driveway entrance regulations adopted December 21, 2005, the maximum number of driveway entrances allowed per lot shall be one unless otherwise permitted by the Planning Board. Sam stated that they would have one driveway on Lot A-058-6 but that they will ask permission from the Planning Board to construct two driveways off Lot C-032. l. He stated that there is a driveway that was approved by the Board and the Planning Board with a Stipulation and Release signed by the homeowners and the Town off Bennington Battle Trail. Chairman Rockwood stated that he would not have a problem with two driveways with the condition that there not be any further subdivision within 5 or so years. It was noted that any further subdivision would require of a lot of upgrading to the road. Selectman Condra agreed with Chairman Rockwood. Mr. Rockwood stated that at the next meeting when Selectman Donovan is here, they will write a letter of support to the Planning Board for the additional driveway.
5) Next on the agenda was Joanne Tramontozzi, Review Appraiser from the NH Department of Revenue. She informed the Board of the assessment review that will take place in 2008. She will be starting the review in September and informed the Board of items that she will be reviewing. She will visit 35 properties to see if her assessment matches our records, review the veterans and elderly exemptions and current use files. She will work with town assessor Todd Haywood and Peggy for the exemptions.
6) The Board signed one Intent to Cut Timber and the Timber Tax Warrant and bills for this year.
7) The bills and payroll for the week ending May 17, 2008 were reviewed and approved.
8) The informational material and correspondence were reviewed.
The meeting was adjourned on a motion at 8:35 PM with all in favor.
