Secretary Peggy Arn
1) The bills and payroll for the week ending February 16, 2008 were reviewed and approved.
2) Road Agent Steve Elliott attended the meeting to discuss Highway Department business. Discussion ensued as to when Ken Pellerin would be able to return to work. Steve has not been able to get a date from Ken but thinks it will be the end of February. He will wait to get a release from the Doctor before Ken returns to his job.
3) Steve asked the Board how they would feel if the status of some roads that only have one or two roads be changed. He thought that it would eliminate short roads that are not traveled in winter. Selectman Rockwood stated that he would be opposed to the idea. Selectman Donovan stated that he too would be opposed to the idea.
4) Selectman Rockwood then informed Steve that he was not in agreement with the Budget Committee’s recommendation that a used truck be purchased for the Highway Department. He stated that it would just be another piece of equipment that would need repairs. He feels that a new truck should be purchased that would last a few years and not be in need of money spent on repairs. He stated that he would bring up the issue at the annual Town Meeting if the Budget Committee did not reconsider their decision on the purchase of a used truck. Budget Committee Chairman Cary Hughes attended the meeting and Mr. Rockwood informed him of his opinion and Mr. Hughes stated that they Budget Committee would revisit their decision.
5) Donald Sienkiewicz, developer of the First Light Farm, attended the meeting to discuss the issue of impact fees. He showed the Board his latest plans for the development. It was agreed that a fee of $1,500 per lot would be due a payable at the time a Certificate of Occupancy was issued. A letter will be sent to the Planning Board stating this agreement.
6) The Board reviewed and signed two abatement reports prepared by Town Assessor Todd Haywood.
7) The meeting was adjourned on a motion, with all in favor at 8:00 pm.
Respectfully Submitted;
Peggy Arn, Recording Secretary
