1) Maurice Guay attended the meeting and discussed asking the Budget Committee for a used backhoe for use at the Recycling Center.
2) Cemetery Trustees Doreece Miller, Maurine Donovan and James Nelson attended the meeting to discuss the issue of the Mount Calvary Cemetery. Discussion ensued as to history of how the town became the caretakers of the cemetery. Mr. Nelson stated that most Archdiocese owned cemeteries are run by the Church. It was in the 1950’s that he was made aware that the funds from the sale of the lots should not be received by the town. The Trustees stated that they definitely want to give the care, lot deeds and perpetual care money back to the Archdiocese. Jim also stated that he feels that the Church would take care of Mount Calvary Cemetery.
3) Motion: Selectman Rockwood made a motion to write a letter to Town Attorney Silas Little authorizing him to go forward with legal procedures to give the Mount Calvary Cemetery deeds and perpetual care money to the Archdiocese.
Selectman Donovan made a motion to amend Mr. Rockwood’s motion to read: Selectman Donovan is authorized to ask Attorney Silas Little to continue forward with procedures to give the money now held by the Trustees of the Trust Funds for perpetual care back to the Archdiocese along with the deeds that have been issued.
The motion was seconded and approved unanimously.
4) The Board discussed and agreed on the projected income for 2008 to be presented to the Budget Committee.
