Date: January 7, 2008
Time: 7:00 pm
Place: Town Office
Present: Selectmen Jerry Greene, Richard Rockwood and Daniel Donovan,
III and Recording Secretary Peggy Arn
1) Selectman Donovan called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. Recycling Manager Maurice Guay asked the Board’s permission to hire another part-time employee to cover some of the overtime his full-time people are working. The Board stated that it would be fine with them. They also discussed his need for a new backhoe and informed him that he certainly should ask the Budget Committee to approve the purchase of one.
2) Motion: Selectman Daniel Donovan made a motion to nominate Mark Whitehill to be Deputy Treasurer until the March elections. Selectman Rockwood seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
3) Motion: Selectman Rockwood made a motion to appoint William Mahar to be appointed as a member of the Conservation Commission. Selectman Donovan seconded the motion which passed with all in favor.
4) The Board discussed a request from the Heritage Commission to designate Dwight Road as a scenic road. After a discussion, it was agreed that the Board would support this and that a warrant article would be necessary. Attorney Silas Little will be asked to write the article if a similar one cannot be found.
5) The Board reviewed three applications for the Building Inspector’s position and asked that two be contacted and interviews set up for next Monday.
6) The bills and the payroll for the week ending January 5, 2008 were reviewed and approved.
7) The meeting was adjourned on a motion at 8:15 pm.
Respectfully submitted;
Peggy Arn Recording Secretary
