Six members of the commission attended this meeting: Corinne Blagbrough, Robert Chouinard, Michael Dell Orto, Gail Hoar, Leslie Wharton and Stanley Young.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Stanley Young at 7:30. Hal Levine, of Curtis Farm Road, Wilton, N.H. expressed his concerns regarding the expansion of the stone quarry off route 31 which is in close proximity to his home. He stated the noise of conveyor belts, the crushing of stone and the dynamiting is very annoying, not to mention the stone dust residue is polluting Stony Brook. “This is a quality of life issue,” said Hal and wishes all local residents to get behind other citizens in opposing this large expansion that will go on for years and ultimately leave the land stripped of trees and other vegetation.
There was no Treasurer’s Report.
Leslie’s wording for the West Wilton plaque was too long and it was decided to let Michael work on it and then send it as well as the Wilton Center and Davisville literature to Liz Muzzey in Concord for approval and/or scrutiny. Michael also suggested we invite Liz to Wilton for lunch and to discuss the locations for the plaques.
Michael is working on the Trifold for the Heritage Commission and a sample was passed around. Robert questioned if maybe we should have voted for this before work began. He reminded the members that several months before it was thought of as too expensive for mailing. There followed some discussion about the cost of mailing it to all Wilton residents and how they might be distributed so as not to incur that cost. Chairman Stanley said work on the Trifold should continue and we will vote later whether or not to mail it.
Many years ago the Town Hall meeting room and one time Court Room was where school children went at mid-day for lunch. Stan shared that he remembered going there when he was a Wilton student.
