The meeting was called to order on Tuesday, Oct. 28 at 7:30 pm in the Wilton Public and Gregg Free Library. Present were Stanley Young, Michael Dell’Orto, Phyllis Tallarico, Dan Donovan, Don Channing, and Nancy Clark.
The minutes were read and approved. The Treasurer reported that $26 had been spent. Stanley presented the proposed budget request for the upcoming year.
Corinne presented Lisa Mausolf’s completed report on the Town Hall’s eligibility for National Register status. Members approved the write-up which detailed the building’s significant architectural features, its various uses over the years, its architect’s other notable buildings, and the Town Hall’s historical and continuing importance to the town. Approval to submit the proposal to the National Register selection committee was moved and passed.
Dan reported on the now completed historic display kiosk. It is a highly attractive structure, with three display bays on each side, a shingled roof, and fluted columns. Dan presented his costs of $500 (reduced and revised), for which he will be reimbursed.
A date was set for the expedition to the old County Farm Cemetery -- Nov. 15. A preliminary survey of the site will be made, with photographs and measurements taken, and other observations noted. It was suggested that UNH might be interested in researching such a significant burial site and this possibility will be looked into. (Note: Bad weather prevented the Nov. 15 and a rescheduled Nov. 22 expedition from taking place. Another time will be set.)
Michael and Stanley reported that they attended a Selectmen’s meeting and received tentative approval to put up the two signs at the Town Hall Theatre, one by the front door, and the other by the back door.
Stanley said he talked to Richard Medlyn in re the cemetery stones repair estimate. The figure is still pending. Stanley is not sure whether an estimate will be available in time to submit to the budget committee for the upcoming year’s budget request.
The meeting adjourned at 8 o’clock.
Respectfully submitted,
Nancy Clark, Secretary
