The meeting was called to order on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. in the Wilton Public and Gregg Free Library. Present were Stanley Young, David Potter, Corinne Blagbrough, Phyllis Tallarico, Dan Donovan, and Nancy Clark.
The minutes were read, corrected, and approved. It was reported that no money had been spent from the treasury.
Dan Donovan recommended taking a different approach when the Heritage Commission reapplies for funds to pay for the effort to place the Town Hall on the National Register of Historic Places. The Heritage Commission can seek funds via a Petittion Warrant Article. Dan also pointed out that the HC could raise the money on its own through donations. Then, the HC can apply to the Selectmen for approval of the use of those funds to hire an architectural historian.
One cemetery has yet to be inventoried for damaged stones. Committee members agreed to meet at Laurel Hill Cemetery on Wednesday, May 14 in order to complete the inventory process.
Stanley reported on his annual photographic documentation of Four Corners Farm to determine whether conditions of the variance continue to be met. The silo has been razed and a paved cow pad area installed in its place. There is now a fenced area in the yard, part of a daycare business. The fence looks fine, and Stanley noted that the backyard has been generally cleaned up, which is an improvement. The farmhouse has not been altered in the past year. Everything seems to be be in compliance.
Stanley displayed a design sketch for the historic display kiosks. He proposed that the first of the kiosks be installed by the police station and highlight the Whiting Mills.
The meeting adjourned at 8 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Nancy Clark, Secretary
