The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm at the Wilton Town Library. Present were Stanley Young, Michael Dell’Orto, Phyllis Tallarico, Don Channing, Dan Donovan and Nancy Clark.
The minutes were read and accepted as amended. The treasurer reported that $79.98 had been spent on wireless access points and a USB Hub.
Commission members were reminded that the Hillsborough County Conservation District was sponsoring the conference Preserving Your Land at the Milford Town Hall. Preregistration was required for the May 3 meeting.
The town asked the Heritage Commission to submit its terms of office. Michael sent them a list of members and their current status. Don Channing has been asked to serve as an alternate member. Phyllis Tallarico and Corinne Blagbrough have been reappointed by the selectmen.
The Documentation Project remains on hold due to the ongoing renovation of the library.
It was reported that work on the Main Street project (including the Heritage Commission’s contribution of Historical Markers) will be delayed as a result of the downtown detour caused by the recent landslide on Rte. 101. Michael suggested that Commission members attend the next meeting of the Main Street committee to tell them of the HC’s plans for information kiosks which will display informative text and photos. The kiosks must be incorporated into the overall Main Street design.
As for Historical Signs -- the Davisville sign will be erected soon. Carnival Hill and the Frog Pond were mentioned as sites for further signs.
Commission members decided to approach high school personnel before the next school year to propose an extra-credit student project. Student volunteers would assist Commission members with computer work, kiosk building, post hole digging and research assignments.
The meeting adjourned at 8:10 pm.
Respectfully submitted
Nancy Clark, Secretary
