WILTON HERITAGE COMMISSION
 MINUTES FOR FEB. 27, 2007

The meeting was called to order on Tuesday, Feb. 27 2007 at the Wilton Public Library. Present were Stanley Young, Michael Dell’Orto, Phyllis Tallarico, Don Channing, Richard Rockwood and Nancy Clark.

The January minutes were read and accepted. The Treasurer reported that there had been no change in the account.

On the matter of Four Corners Farm, it was reported that Darryl DeTour has written to Steve Moheban. Mr. Moheban has applied for a building permit and been informed that the newly added exterior stairway structure must be fortified and strengthened when weather permits in the spring. As well, Mr. Moheban has been reminded to write to the Wilton Heritage Commission, LCHIP, the Wilton Selectmen and the Conservation Commission to ask for retroactive permission to make the exterior modifications already accomplished.

The 2006 Heritage Commission report has been submitted to the Town Report.

Commission members were reminded that the NH Old House & Barn Exhibit would take place at the end of March.

On the matter of signs, Stanley reported he has written texts for the David Whiting & Sons sign and for the Color Shop building sign. Because so many of the old downtown buildings are no longer there to be seen it was suggested that old photos of the lost sites could be affixed and sealed on the back of the commemorative signs.

The Cemetery Commission has informed the Heritage Commission that they would like to begin work on compiling a photographic record of old headstones. Many of the headstones have already been lost and others are disintegrating which is a pity. It was agreed to ask the Camera Club to take this on as a project.

The meeting adjourned at 8:20.

Respectfully submitted,

Nancy Clark, Secretary
