MINUTES FOR FEB. 28, 2006
The meeting was called to order on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006 at 7:30 pm at the Wilton Public Library. Present were Stanley Young, Michael Dell’Orto, Gail Hoar, Don Channing and Nancy Clark. The January minutes were read and approved. The Treasurer reported that there is $760.47 in the private account, with an additional $98 remaining of the town appropriation.
Michael had been working on the Davisville and West Wilton signs and plans to submit the proposed text to Commission members for feedback. Stanley reported that the schoolhouse project seems to be on hold at the moment. The creation of a large, descriptive plaque to be placed on the oldest house in Wilton which sits, restored, on the property of Earl and Claire Boudreau was discussed.
Stanley referenced a recent article which noted that DVDs can become obsolete and cited the advisability of having backups for the documentation project as well as looking ahead to future technology. Stanley also reported that he had sent information on historic preservation to Phyllis Thompson at the Cabinet, which she had requested.
The Heritage Commission adjourned at 7:50, the members having had enough of the strong fumes emanating from an application of a soy based paint stripper being used to restore the library murals.
Respectfully submitted,
Nancy Clark, Secretary
