• Discussion Items
• Doreece recognized Mr. Stitham
o The Trustees received a letter from Mr. & Mrs. Stitham dated October 14, 2009 addressing their concerns about the after hours activity on the grounds of Laurel Hill cemetery. Mr. Stitham reiterated their concerns in light of the recent tragic events in Mont Vernon. He requested the Trustees consider a fence to prevent cars from going onto cemetery grounds after hours. The Trustees agreed to look into our options and suggested that when he sees a car on the cemetery grounds after hours that he call the Police to report the activity.  Mr. Stitham requested that someone notify him if the Trustees do something to prevent trespassers.

• Doreece recognized Mr. Tuttle
o Mr. Tuttle requested that the Trustees reconsider Sunday burials.  When family members have to travel a distance for a funeral, waiting until a Monday can be difficult. He suggested a premium cost for a Sunday burial to cover the cost of overtime. Mr. Tuttle also suggested that the area of Laurel Hill Cemetery used to store discarded granite and other used material be expanded to allow the town trucks easy access and for future growth.  As it is now, the trucks have damaged stones and a faucet in that area. Mr. Tuttle also asked how his family could identify which family members can be buried in the family lot. Doreece explained that we would recognize the names presented to us by the owner of the lot. Mr. Tuttle said that he would present the Trustees with a written list of family members approved for burial in the lot.

• Doreece recognized Mr. McGettigan
o Mr. McGettigan said he wanted to agree with Mr. Tuttle’s concern over the debris stored at Laurel Hill.  Mr. McGettigan brought this to the Trustees attention a few months ago.

• Update on Mt. Calvary-
o The Trustees discussed sending a letter to the Diocese informing them that without the signed agreement discussed several months ago between counsel for the Diocese and town the Selectmen, we will discontinue maintaining Mt. Calvary cemetery effective January 1, 2010. The Selectmen will send a bill for 2009 maintenance. The letter should be reviewed by town counsel prior to sending it to the Diocese of Manchester.

•  The next meeting to discuss 2010 budget will be Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at the Town Hall Office at 7 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Maureen Donovan
