WILTON BOARD OF CEMETERY TRUSTEES
PO Box 83     Wilton, NH 03086

Draft Minutes of May 27, 2009

Present: Brian Adams, Doreece Miller, Steve Elliott and Maureen Donovan

We have started to send letters for removal of items from cemetery graves.  The recipients of one letter came to the meeting.  We came to an understanding of acceptable items and they will be removing more items from the grave.

Robert and Terri Carson would like to purchase another grave at the South Yard Cemetery.  This would be used for a former neighbor, Christopher Thompson, who has family out of state but he lived many years in Wilton.  Upon the receipt of a letter from the family, the trustees agreed that the Carsons may purchase a lot for his burial.  This will be lot 8-2B which is adjacent to their lots.

Pamela Healey called about the Ouellette stone at Mount Calvary that was knocked down and damaged.  She said the damage was done when the area was mowed.  When she was there she could see the lines of the lawn mower.  This was brought to the attention of the custodian and cemetery crew and the stone has been righted.

We received correspondence from Ruthann Lemieux that some planters were stolen from the Fraser lot at Mt. Calvary cemetery.  These were placed there for Memorial Day and were gone two days later.  A reply email was sent and her email was forwarded to the Wilton Police Dept.

Stanley Young, as chairman of the Heritage Commission, was called to acknowledge that the cemetery trustees will be contacting Richard Medlyn about the repair of stone at the cemeteries.  Brian has agreed to contact Mr. Medlyn.

There is a need to establish a policy for the installation of flat markers on graves.  Upright markers are installed by the monument companies and the family pays for this service.  If the cemetery crew is to do the installation of flat markers then fair compensation should be paid to the cemetery crew.  As custodian, Steve was asked to give this some consideration and to share his thoughts for our next meeting.

Paperwork was received from the Diocese of Manchester authorizing the trustees and custodian to sell lots for Mt. Calvary.  Another meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 4th at 11 AM to clarify some questions.

The next cemetery trustees meeting will be on Wednesday, June 24th at 7 PM at the town office.

Respectfully Submitted,
Doreece Miller

PIPELINE:
Update R&R’s to define the number of graves for purchase.
A review of the price for a grave is needed.  There may be a need to raise the price to better cover the ongoing maintenance costs.
