WILTON BOARD OF CEMETERY TRUSTEES
PO Box 83     Wilton, NH 03086

Draft Minutes of Dec. 10, 2007

Present: All Trustees-
Others present: Stan Young

The trustees approved the minutes of Sept. 17 and Oct. 22.

Stan Young spoke for the Heritage Commission.  They have identified damaged stones at the cemeteries using the Whitney Frye map as a reference.
25 stones at the Vale End Cemetery
50 stones at the South Yard Cemetery
Many stones are in need of repair because they are made of marble, which is susceptible to climatic influences.  Some stones need to be cleaned.
Stan gave the trustees a CD of the damage that was documented.
The trustees had an estimate from Medlyn Monuments of $75 to epoxy a stone.  (They repaired one stone at Laurel Hill free of charge to the town.)
There is little in the present budget for repairs.  Money has been requested in the 2008 for the repair of some stones.
The Heritage Commission will also request money in their budget to help with the repair of stones.  They feel all the stones should be repaired as soon as possible.  Someone from the Heritage Commission may also speak about the need to preserve this history at the town meeting in March.

The trustees unanimously designated Steve Elliott, custodian of the cemeteries, as an agent to sell cemetery lots.  (Jim and Doreece can also perform this task.)  It is the intention of the trustees to move all maps and have all the information about the cemeteries in the town hall during 2008.

The next meeting of the cemetery trustees is Monday, January 7, 2008 at 7PM at the town hall.
